The Specialty Coffee Lingo That Inspires Change

Blocs Inc. is not just another place for coffee.  There’s plenty of that already.

But if you are someone who can tell the basic difference between an authentic cup of great specialty coffee versus a comfort drink., and enjoys the sight, smell, feel, sounds and taste that creates the true coffee experience, we welcome you to join the Blocs Inc. specialty coffee clique.

At Blocs Inc, your coffee is always freshly brewed on demand, using only locally freshly roasted arabica beans. You get to see that every cup is crafted with care to deliver you with nothing but the best.  As a specialty coffee company, we believe that our mission is not restricted to just serving great coffee.  We believe that it is also our mission to share useful beans to cup knowledge with our customers, because we want every coffee lovers to know that there is really no secret in how good coffee is produced.  In fact, through our coffee academy, we have already taught thousands of people that.

As a coffee company, we seek to inspire sustainable change together with the community we live, work and play in. By choosing our coffee, you go beyond enjoying your daily cuppa, and instead you become empowered to do good. Our coffee are sourced from various coffee growing regions around the world, of which Laos is one of them.  We use Laos beans that are graded as specialty, have them roasted freshly every week and brewed by our baristas whom have been professionally trained.

Nearly every major coffee-producing region of the world is under stress. Global warming, drought and changing weather patterns are affecting coffee production and the livelihoods of coffee farmers.  We constantly ask ourselves the tough question : “what we can do to contribute to improved income and profitability that advances sustainable development opportunities for 25 million coffee growers, workers and their families?”

We are committed to support the Laotian coffee growers community as well as doing our part to protect the environment and help the needy through the coffee lingo.  We promote the use of reusable steel straws and advocate our customers to go green by using their own tumbler so as to help us reduce the use of disposable cups, lids and stirrers. Rome is not built in a day, so join us to make small changes everyday and make our world a better place to live in.  Together, we can change the world with the coffee we drink.

Blocs Inc is pleased to support Project Meraki, which is a pioneer overseas service learning project launched by Food Science and Technology students from the National University of Singapore.

The key goal of Project Meraki is to share and transfer food processing techniques and knowledge to the farmers in Paksong, Laos, to increase the desirability and shelf-life of their fresh produce. Resulting products can then be transported to supermarkets in other regions of Laos at higher cost to help generate more income for the farmers, securing a more stable livelihood for them.

If you are in NUS, please visit the students booth in Science Faculty (near the Canteen) to support the fundraising for their mission trip in May.
